Jelani M. Favors’ Shelter in a Time of Storm: How Black Colleges Fostered Generations of Leadership and Activism has been chosen as the winner of the 2020 MAAH Stone Book Award! Dr. Favors will receive a cash prize of $25,000.

Our two Finalists -- who each win $5,000 -- are Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor for Race for Profit: How Banks and the Real Estate Industry Undermined Black Homeownership and Tiffany Lethabo King for The Black Shoals: Offshore Formations of Black and Native Studies.

Join us on October 15, 2020 for our Virtual Award Ceremony @ 6:30pm hosted by WGBH Under the Radar’s Callie Crossley and produced in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.

Registration for the event will open on our website on September 15th. The first 99 registrants will recieve a free copy of one of this year’s winning books!
